Last week Sabrina and I headed out for brunch before my shift at work. We’re making a point of getting to know this city better and discover what it has to offer. I had heard about this new place in Rotterdam which supposedly has great brunch/lunch food and it seemed like the perfect opportunity to try this place out. After getting a liiiiiittle bit lost (to say that we both lack some sense of direction is an understatement hah!) we found what we were looking for; Bertmans

The Atmosphere:

Big windows, exposed brick walls & flowers/cacti on every untreated wooden table, what is there not to love? The service comes with a friendly smile and patience as we both couldn’t pick from the great menu. We went on a Monday morning so it wasn’t too busy so we sat back relaxed and talked for hours, updating each other & laughing way too much. The atmosphere is very laid back and comfortable, just the way we like our Monday mornings.

The Coffee:

I devoured the coffee within seconds because I hadn’t had any yet (as you can see I didn’t even have time to take a picture of it haha). It was good, not the best I’ve had but definitely a decent cup to get you started.

The Food:

After some debating we decided to pick two dishes and share, because sharing is caring, right? And because otherwise making a decision would have taken a lot more time. We went for French Toast with berries and the Poached Eggs & Avocado Mash on Toast. Oh. My. This is how brunch was meant to be. The French Toast was not too sweet with a lot of cinnamon and fresh berries. The Poached Eggs on toast are just the perfect hearty counterpart to the sweet french toast, though I have to admit we both took off the caramelized unions. The portions are quite big & thats how we like them, totally worth our money!

Perfect For:

As I said, this place is perfect for brunch. But after browsing the menu, I’ll definitely be back to try out the lunch menu and the cakes as well. There’s something for everyone, lactose intolerant? Gluten intolerant? No problem at all.

Adress:
Zaagmolenkade 15, Rotterdam

You can find their Facebook Page here.

If you have any favourite coffee places I should check out (It really doesn’t matter where in the world you are because, I hope to get everywhere one day ;) ) please do let me know in the comments section!

Liefs,
Yara
