Bucketlist | Budapest

posted in: Personal, Travel | 5

Remember I was telling you about planning a trip this month (here)? While I had my heart set on visiting Vienna, I ended up booking a ticket to Budapest instead, and boy am I excited! So while I finish my sushi here at the airport (someone is super early!) I thought I’d share my little (ahem maybe not so little) ever-growing list of things I want to see and do in Budapest:

1| See the Basilica of St. Stephen

2| Visit the Hungarian National Gallary

3| Visit the Budapest History Museum

4| Walk around Memento Park

5| Relax at the Szechenyi Baths

6| Visit the Hungarian State Opera House

7| Go to Margaret Island

8| Go up the Erzsébet Lookout Tower and enjoy the view

9| Hike up to Citadella

10| Walk across the Chain Bridge

11| Visit Buda Castle

12| Go to the Great Synagogue

13| See Liberty Square

14| Have coffee at New York Café

15| Go on a tasting spree at The Great Market

16| Walk around Castle Hill

17| Visit the Kerepesi Cemetery

18| Try out as many different Hungarian pastries I can find

19| Eat authentic Goulash

20| Have a local wine at a ‘Ruin Pub’

21| See Mathias Church

22| Tour Matyas Caves

23| Catch a film at Urania National Film theatre

24| Visit the Roman Military Amphitheater

25| Go Christmas-crazy at the Christmas Market

26| Tour the Parliament

27| See the Fishermans Bastion

28| Have a bath at Gellért baths

29| Visit the Royal Palace

30| Stroll along the river

31| Stop adding things to this list.

Goodness you’d think I was going for two straight weeks instead of mere four days! But I’m determined to do and see as much as I can during those four days. Its going to be my first time in Budapest (because I don’t think that driving through the city while on our way to the music festival Sziget, last year counts. right?) and I’m excited to be crossing off another city from My 25 Before 25 Bucketlist. I have to admit I’m a tiny bit nervous because I’m traveling by myself again but this time I don’t understand a single word of the language spoken, which I’m sure will be fine, but still, I’m crossing my fingers that everything will be okay.

Have you ever been to Budapest? Am I missing something on this list of mine? Please do let me know in the comments section below, because all tips and tricks are greatly appreciated!

Can’t wait to share this adventure with you!
Liefs,

Yara

I’m probably too late, but it looks like you have a great base for what to do. I lived in Budapest for a year and a half and it’s a wonderful city. I hope you managed to do everything on your list!

Oh thank you so much Adelina! I definitely did not get to tick off every box but I kind of realized that the list was too long for how long I was going to be in the city! I did see a LOT though and will be blogging about it soon! It sounds amazing to live in that city for a year and a half, did you go for studies?

      Love,
      Yara

I was there for work! It was a great place to call home for awhile. Looking forward to seeing your posts on the city. I miss it :)
