When the whole world is on your bucket-list you find travel inspiration around every corner. But what if you need a little push? What if you want to decide on your next adventure but don’t even know where to start? I have compiled a little list of my favorite places to find travel inspiration on a daily basis and I hope it will inspire you too!
Lets start with the most obvious one and work it from there shall we?
1| Travel Blogs
If anything gets my wanderlust going its reading someone else’s travel diary and since we live in an age where people are sharing their experiences online more than ever this is a super rich source of inspiration. My favorite part of this source is that you get to read the stories, see the pictures and get a complete picture of the journey.
A bit in line with travel blogs but whenever I’m in need for a quick reminder of why I’m saving so much money, or what my goals are in life, searching for some hashtags like #wanderlust #dametraveler #roadtrip #mountains never fails to perk me up!
My favorite board on Pinterest is my “Lets Get Lost” board on which I pin every and anything that makes me want to jump on a plane right away. What I love most about Pinterest is that you can organize your inspiration further into smaller categories like summer/winter travels. Or organize it by countries, or by whatever way you want. Plus, you’ll stumble upon a ton of travel blogs via Pinterest too.
When I was 12 years old I used to read the Gossip Girl series and I’m pretty sure thats where my (still very existing) obsession with New York City came from. Books give us the ability to travel across time, place and into someone else’s life. It makes me wonder how it is to live in another century, in someone else’s skin and of course in other surroundings. But since Time travel is yet to be discovered (still crossing my fingers over here that SOMEDAY hah) and living someone else’s life isn’t possible either, the option to travel to different places will do.
Film doesn’t only take us to places we’ve never seen before, it can also capture its most beautiful side. Granted, it can be a little bit deceiving but you can’t convince me that after seeing The Lord of The Rings, New Zealand wasn’t on the top of your bucket list ;).
If travel is my first love, food definitely is my second. I love going through cookbooks, looking for new recipes to try. But when I love food, I can’t wait to visit the country its from and eat it in its best, original way. I mean, there’s a reason Italy is one of my favourite countries in the world.
I love world maps, vintage maps, fake vintage-looking maps, road maps, even Google Maps, I think you catch my drift. I love how maps zoom out, and show you what a small portion of this magnificent globe you’ve ever covered and how much there still is to see. I also love how maps invite travel planning. Maybe its just me but having maps on my wall really does inspire me on a daily basis.
8| Fellow Travelers
My favorite sort of inspiration by far, is meeting other travelers and hearing where they’ve been. There’s something about seeing someone else’s passion and that twinkle in their eye when they talk about past and future travels that just transfers directly and makes you feel their excitement.
I’d love to hear your opinion, what is your favorite source for travel inspiration?
